Dear all,
after all these years ... I am re-installing Esp; We are trying to use it
for a student's project. The laptop is a compaq pressario 64 bit, where
Ubunto 10.10 is installed using partition magic.
We downloaded the source code through svn checkout
http://espr.svn.cvsdude.com/esp-r/trunk
And then started the Install script, ending up with the following error
message (I included the installation choices):
Compiler:
(1) Sun fortran 90 (cc and f90)
(2) GNU fortran (gcc 3.X and g77)
(3) Intel fortran (icc, icpc and ifort)

The libxml2 library does not appear to be installed
on this system. The library could not be found in
/usr/include or /usr/local/include. Support for
experimental XML output will be disabled, but the
rest of the ESP-r installation will proceed normally.
Graphics library: [2]
(1) GTK graphics library
(2) X11 graphics library
(3) no graphics library (text-only application)

ESP-r can optionally retain debugging symbols and
object files for use with a debugging program such
as GDB.

ERROR:
The X-window libraries were found at /usr,
but the X11 header files (e.g. X.h) could not be
found at /usr/include/X11.
This may indicate that you're missing the X11 header
files necessary to compile the X11 version of ESP-r.
Check to see if you've installed the X11 development
package (usually called xfree86-devel, xorg-X11-devel,
or libX11-devel.)
Any help is greatly appreciated
