Hi all,

I am wondering what would be the best approach for modelling Passive downdraught evaporative cooling (PDEC) with ESP-r, and in particular a a PDEC tower with a wet pad?

I am thinking of modelling the tower as a separate zone, set up an air flow network and use the ideal humidity control in the PDEC tower zone. Would this approach be OK and what are the limitations?
There is an existing implementation of a PDEC tower component in another building simulation program (which is described in this IBPSA 2009 paper: http://www.ibpsa.org//proceedings/BS2009/BS09_0369_376.pdf) but we would ideally like to use ESP-r for other reasons, i.e. we need to try and set up a CFD simulation for the zone that the incoming air is dumped. Do you think that I should use ESP-r for this model?

Thanks very much,
