Hi everybody,

is there anybody out there, that can tell me what, exactly, the output is for

res

            (d) enquire about

                        (l) monthly gains & losses

                                    ¦ Solar radiation ¦

                                    ¦ Absorb ¦ entering ¦

                                    ¦ Inside ¦ zone ¦

?

I would assume that "absorb inside" is the solar radiation (direct and diffuse) absorbed by all surfaces that receive short wave radiation and "entering zone" is short wave radiation entering (direct and diffuse) minus direct reflected short wave radiation back out again. Is this correct?

However, I am not quite sure about this. I would have expected that cooling load reduction and solar entering zone reduction when introducing a shading obstruction would be similar (as we have no internal loads and no ventilation, control to constant air temperature, solar radiation is the main gain). This is not the case in our model (reduction of solar entering by approx. 15 - 20 %, reduction of cooling load by approx. 30 %). Strange, I think.

Also, interestingly, for a south oriented zone, the "absorb inside" is mostly larger than "entering zone", for a west oriented zone, both values are more or less equal ... can that have something to do with incidence angles, the direct-to-diffuse ratio and reflection out again?

By the way, ESRU, in above mentioned output there seems to be a small bug, the "Annual" line (last line of output table) seems to be too short, as the last one or two annual sums are not printed (to screen, at least).

Thanks for any ideas.

Best regards,

Achim Geissler
