Giulio,

One possible way around the first problem without worrying about the innardsd of
ESP-r is to break your long simulation time period into hourly intervals. Then
you will only get 60 xpm files per simulation and these you can place in
separate folders.

The second problem is more specific to your model and probably more information
is required in order to answer it. One probable cause may be that nothing
changes much in one hour of simulation so you get similar or slightly differing
results.
