[myplace-announce] Myplace Unscheduled Interruption in January 2014: Investigation report and follow up action

[Education Enhancement]

Dear Colleagues,

Myplace experienced four unscheduled interruptions to service in January 2014. Following these outages an investigation was undertaken to ensure unexpected problems like this result in minimum disruption to students and staff.

The following actions were taken to mitigate the risk in the future:


*         Significant new investment made into the Myplace IT Infrastructure.

*         The timing of maintenance and upgrades reviewed.

*         Improved communications and coordination established.

*         Plans for system growth and benchmarking revised.
Myplace will be migrated to the new infrastructure as part of the Myplace academic year session change scheduled for Wednesday 20th August.
