[esp-r] Problems with plants and controls

Hello,

I am trying to model a solar heating system for a leisure home in ESP-r.

At first I tried to build the model in ESP-r version 12.0 with the
following Build information:
-SVN source - development_branch at r9412 (unmodified)
-Platform- x86_64:Linux:3.8.0-29-generic
-Compilers- gcc/g++/gfortran

It seems that the plantsdb is missing. When i choose database
maintenance->plant components->browse/edit, no list of plant components
appears at all. In the terminal it says 'Error: -mode does not exist',
while in the ESP-r window it says 'There are 112 components in plantc.db1'.
I tried to open the same database on three different computers using the
same version of ESP-r (version 12.0). The same error message was
encountered on the two other computers.

-Does anyone know if there is a problem with the plantsdb in this version
of ESP-r, or how I can fix this problem?

I then tried to build the model with an older version, ESP-r version 11.4
with the following Build information:
-SVN source: trunk at r2123 (locally modified)
-Platform: i86:Linux:2.6.23.1-21.fc7
-Compilers: gcc/g++/g77

In the 11.4 version i was able to open the plantsdb and a list of the
available components appeared. The problem I am having with this version is
that I am not able to define a sensor that is supposed to sense the
temperature difference between a solar collector and a storage tank. (This
part was clear in the 12.0 version)

Under Controls->Plants and systems-> sensor details-> senses output of a
plant component, i chose the solar collector as the "plant component for
sensor". I was then asked: "Plant component node for sensor?" and I assumed
that because I have a one-node flat plate collector that the answer to this
was 1. A followup question appeared: "2nd Plant component index for
sensor?". What number/index are they asking for here? I tried to write the
index number for the plants database for the tank but it does not seem to
work. I also tried with the index of the tank in my plant network file
(i.e. the number of the plant component there).
When i run the simulation and open results analysis, a warning appears:
WARNING in filename.cfg: no chars found for plnt res string in: *splr

Does anyone know how to fix either of these two problems? All help is much
appreciated!

Kind regards,
Ragnhild Løge
