Amar,

Try using csh or bash before moving on to perl
For these scripts look in
src/validation/benchmark/DSM/script/
src/validation/benchmark/CFD/*.csh
src/validation/benchmark/HUE/gen_prototype/

You may also try looking into the xml output option (no need to run res!)
