Dear Helia

1- have you looked in the CookBook? Also, this feature has been available quite a long time and should be covered in the version 9 users manual (available at ESRU web site).

2- yes, I would expect that specific heat and thermal conductance of the PCM will be used regardless of the changed construction properties. All other properties should be used from the changed set. Be aware that changing the layer thickness by thermophysical property control will not increase/decrease the amount of PCM in that layer, I expect.

3- either split up a surface in your model into two surfaces of identical size or, thinking about it, make two zones side by side - then the energy calculations will also show the difference between the two scenarios and may give additional information on what is actually going on. Two "shoe box models" should suffice.

Probably there actually will be coding necessary to really "remove" the PCM for a switched construction - or better "move it to a different surface" is probably what happens? Maybe a short description of what you are actually moving in real life would help (others in the group also, never give up hope) to help.

Best
Achim
