The Install script can tell you about additional options if you use the --help option.
If there is only one version of the GNU compilers on the compute server then
there is probably a pointer from gcc to gcc-4.1. And the server will also need
to find a matching gfortran-4.1 version and a g++-4.1 versions.
You do not mention exactly what the fatal error is, but it might be related
to not locating a matching gfortran or g++. If there is no error when you
omit the --compiler_version directive then you are probably ok.
And to speed things up you should include --reuse_ish_calcs in the command line.
ESP-r should be ok on a 64 bit RH enterprise computer (or the equivalent CentOS
distribution) when running in text mode.

Subject: [esp-r] ESP-r installation
Hi All,
I want to install ESP-r on a cluster which is 64 bit and the OS is Red
hat Linux. I don't need the graphic interface, since I am doing batch
simulation. Will I encounter any problem or esp-r works fine on 64 bit
as well?
Also, when I install the esp-r with the following command, it can't
find gcc-4.1:
./Install -d ~/esru --gcc4 --compiler_version -4.1
and installation abort with fatal error. However, as soon as I omit
the compiler_version one ESP-r installs. I know that the cluster has
gcc4 compiler on it version 4.1.2. The question is, can I just specify
--gcc4 and not the compiler_version? is that work properly?
Thanks,
-----
