[esp-r] Re: enquire about solar entering and absorbed in zones

Sorry about the delay in answering this...

I did a quick test with a small box model with a single window in the
south side (no obstructions) but I did an insolation analysis on it
and then ran a short winter simulation and grabbed some images
associated with solar entering the zone and solar absorbed in the
zone. For this simple case the absorbed is always a bit less than
what enters. This is what we normally see in the exemplar models.
This was done with the current source distribution on Linux.

The email below does not follow that pattern so the question is what
is different about this model?

a) are the optical properties or surface solar properties extreme?
b) is there some sort of optical control or the use of bi-directional optical data?
c) is there a thermophysical substitution control?
d) Do the model predictions indicate that there is an energy balance at zone air nodes and at surface nodes?
e) On this machine do other standard models exhibit this same reporting behavior?
f) is this a non-standard version of ESP-r? If so what Install flags were used when building it?
g) does this model have more than 100 zones?
h) was shading or insolation calculated?

Subject: [esp-r] enquire about

Dear all

During the last days there was a discussion about the results accessible via "enquire about". The following screenshot shows the results we still do not understand.
Why is "Solar radiation absorbed inside" bigger than any other amount (even bigger than "Transparent surfs" and "Opaque surfs" togheter)?
The zones A1, A2, A3, I1, I3 and F2 are facing outside conditions.

I would appreciate any hints.
sincerely yours,

Caroline Hoffmann
