I experienced the same problems with esp-r on a ubuntu 8.04. And I think it is
due to GTK library problems on amd64. Now I compile esp-r on a 32 bit
machine and use it on the 64 bit workstation. The X11 version compiles
without problems on amd64 so actually I'm using the 32bit version for prj and
X11 64 bit version for bps, this not a problem since I'm using the program
mainly in scripts with text front end.
I have problems with the GTK version in cygwin 1.7 too. prj starts correctly
but when I try to open a project it ends with
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
again the X11 version works just fine.
By the way I'm using esp-r version 11.8 but similar probles occour with
previous versions too.

Best regards

Marco
