[esp-r] How to start esp-r from within an X11 command window

Dear all,
I want to run ESP-r in graphics mode,but I don't know how to give the command to start esp-r from within an X11 command window.How shall I  start an X11 command window?I use Ubuntu-8.04.Look forward to your answers.Grateful thanks!
