The version 1.1 geometry file includes a number of directives to fine tune
which surfaces should be included for shading and insolation calculations.
The thought behind this is that users who have such opinions should be
able to record these in the model and not have to rely on their memory
or a script to ensure that the correct details are implemented.
If there are enough people who would benefit from ALSO specifying the
months in which calculations are to be generated then we could look
at extending the directives held in the zone geometry file.
Clearly the facility should be generic and allow for various combinations of
months. The command line option mentioned in recent emails covers
one combination. What should happen if the user defined shading for
February but there were simulation startup days in January? Should the
user be warned if a portion of the simulation period included shading
and some did not? Should a change in simulation periods (simulation
presets) cause the months for shading be updated?
Lets start a conversation. What types of control do users want for shading and insolation
calculations? Who has an interest in working on this?

Does anyone know how to specify the months that ish is performed at the command line?
For instance, I would like to do shading calculations for January only in the following form:
"ish -mode text -file c:/house/cfg/house.cfg -zone main -act recalculate"
By default, it will calculate January through December.
