A recent question about sunshine on walls.

ESP-r can provide a zone energy balance as well as a surface
energy balance - e.g. all of the gains and losses that go to make
up the energy balance at the zone air node AND each of the types
of flux that occur at each surface in the model. Some people
use this to learn about performance in rooms and at surfaces.

Each of the separate gains and losses can be plotted or listed at
each time step or exported to a file. Can be a powerful facility
for those with a good background in building physics.

ESP-r can be asked to calculate the distribution of direct and diffuse
solar radiation on a surface if there is an 'obstruction block' that
might block some of the solar radiation. ESP-r does not currently
predict the temperature of the obstruction/overhang/fin.

If the introduction of solar shading alters the demand for cooling
then this should become clear during assessments. Some users
would create two buildings within the model - one with shading
and one without - in order to do direct comparisons.

Subject: [esp-r] Obstruccion Solar & HVAC

Hi All,

The results delivered by a simulation (energy balance, gain / loss) can be used to see
the selection of HVAC equipment, such as?

By placing an obstruction for sol in a wall, in the simulation is integrates data the sunshine obstruction on the wall?
