There is no single equation.  There are a number of different
equations that can be invoked depending on the users preferences.

The PhD thesis by Ian Beausoleil-Morrison (can be found on
the ESRU publications page) will tell you lots about the theory
and implementation.  You could also look at the book by
Joe Clarke 2001 book Energy Simulatin in Building Design (2nd Edn).

Looking in esrubld/convect1.F and esrubld/convect2.F will
cover most of the implementation.  And there is a TRACE
facility available when you run a simulation which will
tell you which correlation is being used for each surface
at each timestep.
