A recent question about compiling on a mac...

Look for a file named setting_up_osx.txt in the manual/OS/Apple
folder of the source distribution.  This document was written for
PPC versions of Apple computers and it has a few typographial
errors in it, but it generally covers the steps.

Also check to see if there is a readme file on the download
site for the OSX precompiled version.
