Myplace Upgrade June 2012 - Notice for Staff

The University learning system 'Myplace' will be upgraded in June 2012. Work will commence on Monday 18 June 2012 for a period of up to 5 days during which time access will be 'read-only'.

During this read-only period changes cannot be made to content and interactive activities will not be available. For example students will not be able to post to forums or upload assignments. Therefore tasks and deadlines should not be scheduled for the week beginning Monday 18 June 2012.

After this point the new version of the system will be in use and the rollover/session change for 2012-2013 will also have taken place. New versions of classes for 2012-2013 will be available by Monday 25 June 2012 for staff to begin editing in preparation for the new academic year.

The upgrade will bring significant improvements based on the latest available Moodle functionality and in response to evaluation feedback from users. This includes drag and drop file upload and conditional activities whereby an activity can be made available to students, for example, only if they have completed another activity. The upgrade also offers mobile access to Myplace for a variety of popular mobile devices such as the iPad, iPhone and those using Android.

Updated information on Myplace and the June 2012 upgrade is available on our support site:

We will be running a series of workshops between now and the beginning of the new academic year to demonstrate new features and support exploration of these in your own classes. Please book a session to attend:
