Hi Gian Luca,
good to hear from you!
I had the same issues you describe on MacOS also. I changed the install script accordingly, however, I did it manually. Actually, I also added the correct number of parameters to quite a few functions in ecru_util.c and esru_x.c. It seems that compilers on Linux are fairly lenient in following modifications in language “best practice” syntax.
I am pondering on if I want to code around the update_notes issue (which also seems to be a result of less strict convention following on Linux, i.e. the missing “V” in the 13.3.18 entry is not accepted by MacOS but does not seem an issue on Linux). Interestingly, the update_notes seem to be written / saved on a windows system, as the file as CRLF as “paragraph endings”.

As far as I could see, an (MacOS) “EOF” or similar is inserted prior to the 13.3.18 changes listing and this leads to an error "EMENU: EOF detected, error in input command.” which itself possibly makes firing up of X broken.
