After merging the new code with my local (slightly changed) code and clean compile, trying to load a model sadly leads to serious problems, though. So, community, if you have models with plants that use hydronic floors/slabs, be careful (item 7. of the change log seems to reference this but states ?alternative radiant floor? ?). It seems the expected format is not backwards-compatible and you need to enter five additional data items. The/a corresponding exemplar using the radiant floor ?cellular_GSHP? has not been updated to the new format, so can?t be used as blue-print and will not work. I couldn?t find any other model to use as example for the new format, but probably there is one, somewhere in the collection. Also, according to my code-check while merging, the containments for plant components seem to have been changed from ?layer? (for surface-embedded plant components) to ?node? (there does not seem to be any hint to this in the change log). So, even though I haven?t tried this yet (due to the slab issue), probably the model will run but your components will not be in the expected layer of your construction. This seems to work. What I was not able to solve so far is a behavior where the occupant would open the window even if the external temperature is higher than the target, but lower than the zone temperature. This is what I would expect in case of a non-cooled building. Is there some whay to trigger a control if the outdoor is lower than the zone temeprature? Define a dummy connection in your flow network (ideally a connection between nodes that are already linked, the component for this connection should have a high resistance (small area) so that it does not matter much if this connection is open or shut) 2. Define an on-off controller. The sensed parameter is the external temperature, the actuated parameter is the connection of step 1 and the control law is ON if node temperature is higher than ambient. 3. Define another on-off controller. This time sense ambient temperature and control the connection of step 1 to ON if ambient temperature is higher than set point target. 4. Define a multisensor (of loops) controller. This controller senses the state of previously defined control loops instead of physical parameters like temperature, RH etc. and has the ability to perform logical AND/OR/NOT operations on the sensed conditions (loops). Use sensed condition as on/off state of control loop of step 2 AND step 3. The actuator is the connection (window) that you want to control. 5. Control more windows with the multisensor of loops controller but as SLAVE of loop defined in step 4 (standard help text explains available options) I'll try to find and send you an example of this tomorrow. Having said all this it might be that you don't need the above and it will suffice to put just a simple controller that opens the window if ambient is lower than internal node temperature. You may have to put a period of validity though so that it is active only in the summer. Regards, Aizaz ________________________________ From: esp-r-bounces at lists.strath.ac.uk on behalf of Lars O. Some CAD tools generate gbXML files that are poorly formed. ESP-r reads in DXF files that use specific entity types and naming conventions. The easiest way to see what is accommodated is to take an ESP-r model and export it to DXF and have a look at it. DXF has such limited attribution and is so ancient that it is rarely used any more. I am coming from version 13.3.2, in which at the start ESP-r asks if a restart is commanded. In that case, avoiding a restart is mandatory for entering text mode or script mode, in my system at least. In version 13.3.8, the restart is automatical (one cannot opt out of it), and in my system this prevents entering text/script mode altogether. The response of the system in that case is the same as that of 13.3.2 if restarted: " Model management:?> EMENU: EOF detected, error in input commands. This averaging in reports will also happen for the weather data. So the numbers will not be exactly the same because the data shown in the clm module is not averaged. -Jon Hand ________________________________ From: esp-r-bounces at lists.strath.ac.uk on behalf of Miguel Angel Ramirez Robledo Sent: 15 May 2020 00:59 To: esp-r at lists.strath.ac.uk Subject: [esp-r] Module res vs clm Hi! Save the model with default name 'house_win.vew'. 2. in gtool, start geo3d, open the model; select all, then save the model with 'Split into Surf' option. (fig 1) 3. start geo3d, open the saved model, select the surface(s), change color and visibility as you wish. The process is tedious, must say. If you are using homebrew on OSX you can install older versions of the compilers in addition to the default gcc10. Gcc10 does not like some of the older code constructs in res where it tries to draw a 3D surface plot. To get better debug information always include --debug or --extra-debug in the Install command line. An 'end of record' error is a trying to stuff excess characters into a string. So your path or file name might be overly long. I have not yet encountered an issue with a zone that starts with an elevation above zero so that is a puzzle. As a work-around for the non-zero elevation you could start the zone at zero and then do a transform of the zone to move it into place. It turned out that the segfault was not due to the compiler, but that it appears if I start prj without a running x-server. On the older machine, I had it in the background. On the Catalina machine, after starting x, I was able to run prj, too. I am wondering if one should test for an xserver before calling xlib functions, which would probably avoid the error message I got. > An 'end of record' error is a trying to stuff excess characters into a > string. > So your path or file name might be overly long. Interestingly, I got this error before I entered a file-name. > I have not yet encountered an issue with a zone that starts with an > elevation above > zero so that is a puzzle. As a work-around for the non-zero elevation > you could start the zone at > zero and then do a transform of the zone to move it into place. That is what I am doing for now. If anyone could replicate this, it might lead to a problem in the processing of geometry though. Besides that, I found another problem when editing constructions with cavities. On 13.3.11, prj crashes if I add a "gap" to a construction right after confirmation to do so. I am able to add the construction to my construction database using an older version of ESP-r, and then use the that db with 13.3.11, so this hints at a problem introduced in a recent update.
