Hi Gul,
I have reviewed your selected options when creating the GSHP system (below), and they seem fine. I do not think it is a problem with your specification of the system.
A possible problem could be that you have not specified zone controls. The zone controls provide idealized heating loads, that are then passed to the GSHP routines to process into power consumptions. If you have not specified the controls then the GSHP system has nothing to work from.
These can be specified in the menu from the project manager. In the browse/edit/simulate menu, under "... Controls....." select option "j zones", create a control file, and proceed to define your controls.
If you have already defined controls and it is still not working, there may be a problem with the hvac input file; I have encoutered similar issues. Open your ****.hvac file in a text editor; the default location for this is in [your_model_directory]/cfg/hvac. Check for particularly long lines of data; sometimes these can be too long for the buffers within ESP-r which results in errors when reading in the data. To fix the problem remove any trailing 0's from the data, and remove excess spaces between the data values (though be sure to leave at least 1 space between each). Note however that if you then go into the idealised plant menu, edit the data, and then re-save the file, you will need to do this again.
I hope this solves your problem.
Cheers,

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for your reply and time.
I am running with save option 5 and I saw the file H3K and checked it. yes there is data about energy consumed by gshp however all data are zero. I think I ahve someting wrong when I am selecting the properties of gshp system.
montly data is enough for me.
Can you inform me about the steps when I am creating a GSHP system for my model. I mean what I have to do after this step-->
Networks --> plants and systems --> idealized --> add a new system --> ground source heat pump -->heating -->?
I tried many options but result seems still zero.
Best

Hi Gul,
The idealised plant functionality is post-processing that was implemented as part of a package collectively called H3K. If you run your simulation with save option 5 you should get a file called "[your_cfg_file].h3k" instead of a results library that will contain summary information which should include information about the GSHP. I think you need to compile with XML support to enable this.
I am unsure if there is currently a way to get time-step output on idealised plant networks. However it just so happens that I am working on a similar issue as we speak, so I can certainly direct you to the relevant parts of the code if you wish.
Best regards,

Subject: [esp-r] GSHP
Hi,
I am tring to add a GSHP heating system to my model, as below:
Networks --> plants and systems --> idealized --> add a new system --> ground source heat pump -->heating --> no backup --> steady state capacity 10000 W--> heat pump COP 40 --> flow rate -1 --> flow rate at rating conditions -1 --> circulation fan mode-continuous mode --> circulation fan position 1 --> circulation fan power 1000 --> outdoor fan power 1000 --> fan power ass with auto mode 1000
However, when I simulate my model, in my out.csv file all values for GSHP as electricity used are all "0". I am doind something wrong but I dont know what is wrong.
Thanks for any help
Best
Gul
