Shading is calculated in the 'ish' module of ESP-r. The code is documented
and is also described in Joe Clarke's book (2nd edition). Note that there
are two sets of calculations - an initial pass to calculate shading (some
intermediate information is stored in temporary files) and a 2nd pass to
calculation the insolation distribution within rooms.

There are LOTS of transforms done. In lots of different places so allocate
time for review of the code. There is a 'trace' facility that will write out the
intermediate results.

Consider also running the ish module in a debugging environment so you
can single-step through the calculations.

Subject: [esp-r] How does esp-r calculates the shading coefficients .shda

Hello,
is there a way to figure out, how ESP-r calculates the shading factors
you can find in the .shda file?
I wonna try to improve the software, so that you can use different
shading bodies. Not only boxes.

Thanks for your help
Lars
