[esp-r] how to add the material I create

Dear all:
I want create a new model which  add new construction material I defined by myself such as their conductivity, special heat capacity. After create a new materials db, I don't know how to add it to my model. And I have create a PCM material in active materials, it told me to add in a layer, but after I did, I can't check it in the layer I add. Could you tell me the right process to add or change material?
