A query about database management...

The first issue is - what version of ESP-r are you using and is it the X11 or GTK interface
(GTK provides file browsing facilities and X11 does not).  What operating system (issues
might be specific to the computer)?  

2nd issue - have you made absolutely sure that the locale is USA or UK (so that the decimal 
point is a dot rather than a comma) and that you have used only standard ASCII characters 
in the names of entities (spaces are not currently allowed).

3rd issue - if you have installed from source did you request to re-build the databases
and exemplar models?

4th issue - if you are working with very old models there are cases where two
materials might have the same 'name' and this will confuse current versions of ESP-r.

And it is easier to give advise or to have a look in the source code for
possible glitches if the question is specific e.g. 'when inserting a new layer
in a construction....'  What specific management task or list of management
tasks would you like to know more about?

The ESP-r Cookbook discusses some aspects of the databases.  There are
dependencies in the databases - constructions make reference to materials
as well as to optical propery sets. 

I have personally been adding and subtracting a number of database entities
in the last week and was not prevented from any of the tasks (and I am working
with the newest code because some facilities in the databases have changed).

Hi all,

I'm having a lot of problems trying to manage the materials and constructions databases in ESP-r, which I'm trying is simply create a new database, define new materials with all their properties, but de GUI in ESP-r seems like it can manage that.

It looks like some people have create independent GUI for this task, can somebody help me in their GUI?
