Great. What's the secret? If it's concern about email addresses being harvested, well mailman does a bit of hiding as seen in the example below: ubuntu at rio.vg ubuntu at rio.vg Mon Aug 7 17:12:25 BST 2006 ...maybe there are more settings somewhere? I think a list archive which google can index is important for finding solutions. Message-ID: Dear ESP-r users, is there anybody out there that has used the integrated CFD for more than one zone in the same model? The corresponding header file cfd.h does, after all, only state that "usually" there is only one zone with CFD and one would need to recompile with MNZ=2. Has anybody done this, before? Thanx! In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: A recent question related to the inclusion of two CFD domains within a single model. We did some checking around and the current consensus is that there are issues with subsequent CFD domains and we think that there is some place (possibly three) in the code where an array index is not being correctly set. CFD is somewhat difficult to debug - the number of calculations is non-trivial and it is necessary to use a pair of domains that are carefully defined so as to uncover the glitch. It would be a great project for someone who had time to devote to the subject. -ESRU From jon at esru.strath.ac.uk Tue Aug 29 17:04:23 2006 From: jon at esru.strath.ac.uk (Jon Hand (clcv10)) Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2006 17:04:23 +0100 Subject: [esp-r] Re: [ESP-r] Problems with Results Analysis In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <56CBDDE7-0D8F-45C4-9472-624AEEC0757C@esru.strath.ac.uk> A recent item in the esp-r list.... > it seems, that it is no more possible to export continous data sets > without marks between days. these marks are included in the > exported file even when i change the time output format. when doing > this a small dialogue is offered which asks if the result file > should have marks between the days or not. it does not take any > effect what is chosen there. in each exported relsultfile are these > marks. grrr. We had a look at the code in the results module. Timestep listings of air flow predictions seem to work find, timestep listings of zone related data - such as zone temperatures do include the day demarcation line if exported to file, the demarcation lines can be switched off if the data is going to the text feedback area of the results analysis module. So we altered the logic in esrures/table.F to separate the logic of 'I want day demarcations' from the logic that tells it to direct the output to an external file. We will shortly be submitting this patch to the repository after we have run it through the standard testing regime. Well spotted Stephan. -ESRU -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If you added a layer of glass to an existing construction to make a new one you are probably going to have to create a new optical property set with the same number of layers. Assuming that at least some of the layers in this construction are actually opaque you are going to have a difficult time using any of the normal tools (WIS Window5.2) typically used to create optical properties because they do not deal well with the concept of glazing systems which have totally opaque layers - they tend to crash. It then becomes interesting to speculate as to what happens in a construction which has an outer glass layer? Certainly any solar radiation that gets into the room will interact with this entity which is sort of opaque and sort of transparent. In other project where designs such as transparent insulation have been modelled a common approach was to treat the air space behind the glass as a zone (albiet a rather thin one) so that the construction on one side was the mass of the buidling and the construction on the other side was a glazing system. Of course a zone can be ventilated and has full radiant and convective exchange which might be useful in the case of glazing added to an wall construction. If you are determined to have this as one construction then in WIS or Window5.2 you should pretend that the wall behind the glass is slightly transparent. Usually a few percent will allow calculations to proceed. -ESRU -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
